2010 Harvest Festival - 6th Ave Farmers Market
Celebrate the Harvest and the end of the 6th Ave Farmers Markets 2010 season. Harvests festivals typically feature feasting, both family and public, with foods that are drawn from crops that come to maturity around the time of the festival. Ample food and freedom from the necessity to work in the fields are two central features of harvest festivals: eating, merriment, contests, music and romance are common features of harvest festivals. At the 6th Ave Farmers Market we will celebrate the fall harvest with our friends and neighbors, local businesses and our Farmers to raise money for the 6th Ave Healthy Community Campaign.
How: In keeping in line with the Healthy Community Campaign, the food offered at the event will be created with donations from our local farmers' harvests, the event will be focused on using sustainable practices, with little or no waste.
Soups: White Bean and Kale with Chicken (dairy and gluten free) and Fall Vegetable Soup (Vegan, gluten free and dairy free) and the Fall Salad will be prepared by Soulstainable Soups (with produce donated by local farmers) E-9's Famous Clam Chowder, will be donated by E-9.
Raffle: Harvest Basket will be stuffed full of local goodies from your favortie vendors and 6th Ave businesses.
Cost: $10 - Harvest Dinner (Harvest Soups and Fall Vegetable Salad) - ticket includes entry into the raffle and a coupon for $2 E-9 beer. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $3. (All proceeds go to the 6th Ave Farmers Market Healthy Community Campaign) Kids age 5 and under - FREE
