BURST
Sparkling with wit and insight, BURST presents us with humor & tragedy, with desperation & salvation, with madness & modern life and asks us whether they are that different.
Directed by Tanya Taylor Rubinstein and presented by Santa Fe Performing Arts, "BURST" is about the unexpected clarity that comes with acceptance and surrender. "BURST" is written and performed by Bay Area artist, Gray de Young.
de Young uses her personal experience with Bipolar 2, frantic city living, Zen Buddhism and familial loss to create a high-energy, fast-paced, explosively honest look at how our challenges in life can be hidden opportunities and the very catalysts which propel us to embark upon the only relevant journey we will ever undertake -- the journey to the True Self.
Get ready for psychiatrists, meds, espresso machines, cartwheels, 20 dates in 20 days, Zen, "sexual indiscretions," Vietnam, and enlightenment -- all in an 80 minute one-woman show.
"Poetry and pure artistry."
~ Michelle Vest, writer/performer of "Sole Stories"
"This show is so important and delves more viscerally and deeply into the moment to moment experience of being bi-polar than anything I have ever seen presented onstage."
~ Tanya Taylor Rubinstein, Creative Director of Project Life Stories
