Sad Happy Sucker
Produced by Jenna Fischer (The Office) and directed by Sean Gunn, the play hilariously touches on the absurdist themes of alienation, helplessness, and the anxieties of everyday life.
Having played to critical acclaim at the Paul E. Richards Theatre in Los Angeles February and March of 2007, Sad Happy Sucker opens Friday, August 20th and will run through Sunday October 10th 2010 at The Lyric Hyperion Theatre. Shows will play Friday and Saturday at 8:00pm and Sunday at 7:00pm.
Sad Happy Sucker opens with Eddie (Eddie Ebell) stuck, quite literally and metaphorically in the middle of his backyard. Paralyzed by his self-doubts, anxieties, and confusion, his distraught and long-suffering mother (Lauri Johnson) * makes every attempt to help her son. When her efforts to save him fail, she calls in a self-important doctor (Valentine Miele) who quickly becomes perplexed by Eddie's situation and struggles with diagnosing his condition. This is where the fun begins.
*On September 24, 25, 26 and October 3, the role of Mother will be played by Jeanine Anderson.

"...crackles with humor"..."Lee Kirk succeeds in broaching absurdist themes of alienation and helplessness."

"This is a very interesting work. It strikes a chord in this mad, egocentric, self-absorbed, media crazed world."
