Synopsis of the Show
Another school shooting has occurred in the US, this time in Texas. The teenaged shooter, Connor Stephens, is hospitalized from attempted suicide. The one victim was Tess Williamson, the adopted daughter of a gay couple Jim and Kris.
On the day of the funeral in the midst of national media attention, family members arrive at the home of Jim and Kris to pay their respects. Attendees include Kris' sister and brother-in-law, Kimmy and Bobby, and Jim's estranged parents and grandmother, Big Jim, Marianne, and Grandma Vivi'n. Big Jim, a radical Baptist preacher, is determined to use the current situation as a way of saving his son from what he considers to be a life of sin until it is revealed that Big Jim may be responsible for the death of Tess.
In this intimate family drama, generational wounds, religious beliefs, consequences of actions, and extreme loss shake the families to the core as they struggle to come to terms with the tragedy that has occurred.
