Momotaro (Peach Boy) (Magnuson Park Theatre)
Momotaro is the most popular children's story told in Japan. An old woman finds a huge peach floating in a river from which Momotaro, a young boy, magically emerges. He grows up to be a warrior and bands together with a dog, a monkey and a pheasant to defeat Oni's who have been terrorizing his village. Bunraku-style puppets, origami puppets and exciting music combine to create this unforgettable adventure.
Thistle Theatre specializes in table top Bunraku-style of puppetry a variation of the ancient Japanese art form. One to three puppeteers, dressed in black to symbolize invisibility, operate each of the handcrafted puppets.
