Colorhue - Instant Dyeing on Silk
Guest instructor Barbara Pickett from the Eugene Textile Center comes to Astoria. In this class the students create a triaxial scale color reference guide. Students explore Colorhue, a liquid, non-toxic, fiber-reactive dye. It doesnât need additional chemicals or heat setting or batching to fix color.
Activities:
Immersion dyeing all 10 colors on habotai silk
Low-volume dyeing in a Ziploc baggie
Scrunch dyeing for Iridescence effects
Optically mixing colors by layering dyed organza
Lumiere metallic paints with Colorhue
