A Mid-summer Tasty Tapas Party
Slow Food Katy Trail and The Wine Cellar & Bistro invite you to A Mid-summer Tasty Tapas Party, another delicious and casual local-foods feast that will benefit our Slow Food chapter's delegation to the Terra Madre conference in Turin in October. We're thrilled to announce that five delegates were chosen to attend the conference. Craig Cyr, Julie Walker, Brook Harlan, Walker Claridge and Bernadette Dryden will represent mid-Missouri at the international conference. More than 1,000 people from throughout the country applied and fewer than 500 were chosen, so we feel proud and fortunate to have been selected!
Please come help us celebrate by joining other local-food enthusiasts and Slow Food members. We've decided to feature all-vegetarian tapas since there seems to be a growing interest everywhere in innovative vegetarian foods (and, of course, it's peak season for fruits and vegetables here!). Restaurants throughout the world are showcasing their communities' local produce in wonderfully creative new ways, and The Wine Cellar & Bistro is front and center here. Chef Craig will be in the kitchen turning out these tempting treats for us to enjoy. We'll wash them down with our fabulous white sangria that's as beautiful as it is refreshing. What better way to wind down a hot summer's day than in the company of fabulous friends, food and drink!
The $25 ticket price includes tapas and sangria.
THE TASTY TAPAS
Shitake, oyster mushroom and vegetable conservas with crusty bread
Fried goat cheese with lavender honey, caramelized onion and crisp herbs
Watermelon skewers with tomato- and citrus-tarragon vinaigrette, and cantaloupe skewers with black-pepper sherry vinaigrette and mint
Cornmeal-encrusted bean cakes with smoked-pepper crema and cinnamon-scented peaches
Marinated beets and turnip, stuffed cucumber, Goatsbeard feta and parsley
Little pies with grilled beans, onions, zucchini, sweet corn, potatoes and roasted-vegetable Romesco sauce
Chilled yellow tomato-and-garlic soup with lemon basil, cucumber and yogurt
Uprise baguette with Patric dark chocolate, olive oil and sea salt
