We Can Do It! and other tales from the Cosmetic Case
part of SPF5 (fifth annual summer performance festival). We Can Do It! follows the separate stories of three women grappling with their own understanding of femininity juxtaposed with that presented to them by society at large. The show intersplices clowning with realism to explore the absurdities and pressures women are confronted with in contemporary society. Through the naïveté and innocence of a clown's perspective, we play with glamour magazines, the relentless quest to be loved, diet obsessions and the seeking of outside validation through anything except ourselves.
