It's time for Summer, and thus rock'n'roll. What better way to celebrate the middle of Summer than to hang out in one of Boston's best basements? It'll be cool, literally, and not just in a BMX-is-awesome-I-want-to-ride-my-dirt bike-all-summer-long kind of way.
Coming out of Boston, Kingsley Flood knows "Americana" music isn't a cliché world of cabins, hollers and 'shine but songs about ordinary people's challenges set to tunes that resonate. Meshing the personal and the political with a true fiery, country-city sound (call it "post-Americana"), Kingsley Flood draws as much from Woody Guthrie and the Band as it does Joe Strummer and the Replacements.
Balthrop Alabama is a band of friends from a fictitious town.
"An impressive début double album and their approach to performing is equally inventive" The New Yorker
"Elaborate shows which feature the 10 or so members dressed as the aw-shucks residents of a fictional Southern town breezy, melody-driven pop" Village Voice
"What great fun in the form of a band called Balthrop, Alabama!" Rainn Wilson (of The Office)
That Old Feelin' is emerging on the music scene as a band that brings you an original mix of blues, soul, and good old rock 'n' roll.
Founded by the songwriter, drummer and trumpeter from acclaimed band The Gulf, Science skews the blues with brass, dreamy guitars, minimalist rhythms, and rich vocal harmonies.
