Sara Davis Buechner at the Queer Arts Festival
Crossing the Concourse: Sara Davis Buechner in Music and Words
Join us for a rare and exclusive glimpse into the world of renowned concert pianist Sara Davis Buechner. In an intimate evening of half music and half words, Sara will trace her life story and transgender journey, illustrated with works by Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Nishimura, Vancouver's own Jared Miller, and closing with Sara's signature finale, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Sara will talk about being the T in GLBT, and share with dignity and humour what she's learned along the way about gender, gender roles, and how preconceptions have both limited and enhanced her own life. It will be a night of breath-taking pianism, insight and laughter that will be long remembered and treasured by those lucky enough to hear it.
