Heinrich Schütz - The Master of Baroque Dresden
First Evangelical Lutheran Church Houston, TX
Heinrich Schütz is widely regarded as the greatest German composer before Johann Sebastian Bach and one of the most important composers of the 17th century. Schütz's works follow in the grand Italian polychoral tradition of his teacher, Giovanni Gabrielli. We are delighted to have Manfred Cordes, a foremost Schütz scholar from Bremen, Germany, lead the Chamber Choir, period strings and brass in a breathtaking concert of the composer's most spectacular works.
Note: An additional performance of this concert will be given on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the Round Top Festival Hall in Round Top, Texas.
