Blooming Hill Farm Brunch and Private Tour on Saturday, July 17th
The concept of our Good Farm Tours all started when a customer asked if Basis was going to provide farm visit opportunities in the future. Upon hearing this question, Bion Bartning, the founder of Basis, promptly and with enthusiasm said, "Yes, absolutely!"
If you are anything like us, you've spent some time wondering what pineapple mint tastes like and where you can find an heirloom mixture of beet greens grown from Italian seeds. The answers, Good Food enthusiasts, lie at Blooming Hill Farm. Come with us Saturday, July 17th to explore Guy Jones' fields, learn about organic farming and eat a scrumptious brunch made from farm fresh ingredients! Founded in the early 1980's, Blooming Hill Farm has been an influential member of the Hudson Valley farming community growing over two hundred fruits and vegetables including rare heirloom varieties. A firm believer in farming without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, Guy Jones likes to call his methods "beyond organic." Although it feels like another universe, Blooming Hill is only sixty miles outside of the city making it the perfect place to take refuge from the sticky, summer heat!
For our first Good Farm Tour this summer, you will leave Manhattan near our 420 W 14th Street office on Saturday July 17th, 2010, at 10am and head to Blooming Hill Farm 60 miles north of NYC in the Hudson Valley. While there, you will enjoy an authentic Farm-to-Table brunch and experience a private farm tour given by Farmer Guy Jones himself. Don't worry, you'll be back in the city by 7pm!
Cost (includes transportation and farm-to-table brunch):
$35 for Basis Good Food Ambassadors
$50 for current Good Food to You customers
$75 for non-customers, general admission; all are welcome to join!
