Slow Wine: Pairing Food and Wine
In response to member feedback, we're taking our monthly meet-and-greet in a new direction this month. People will arrive between 6 and 6:30, and we will begin at 6:30 sharp with a Taste Education seminar focused on the fundamentals of pairing food and wine. The seminar will focus, not on specific foods, but on the components of food -- saltiness, umami, etc. -- and on the wines that pair best with each. Six wines will be chosen from the Twisted Vine's selection of small-scale, sustainably produced offerings. After the seminar there will be time for the usual Slow Wine meet-and-greet.
The seminar will be based on a food and wine training workshop designed by Master Sommelier Matthew Citriglia, who led our recent Bordeaux vertical, and will be used with his permission. Seating for this seminar is limited to 20 people maximum and preregistration (and prepayment) is required. We anticipate that it will fill up fairly quickly.
