The Art of Jewish Food has fed your body and soul; now we ask for your help to feed our community.
With faiths' enduring mandate to "feed the hungry," this film explores some of the ways in which faith based groups are bringing a new perspective to an old problem agricultural sustainability, social network community building, and advocacy to reshape food policy. The film reminds us that we are "not obligated to finish the work (of perfecting the world) but neither are you allowed to desist from it." (Pirket Avot 2:16).
Admission: canned goods for local food banks (most appreciated: canned meats, canned chili, canned fruit, canned pastas, mac & cheese). A talkback after the screening about how our community is addressing food insecurity.
The Art of Jewish Food, powered by the JCCNV, is an inaugural event of theatre, film, music, cookbook authors, plus cooking demonstrations and tastings. AJF is supported by a grant from The Jewish Food Experience, a program of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington (www.jewishfoodexperience.com).
