Cafe Lorraine by Lorelei Bayne & Melissa Wynn
EXIT on Taylor San Francisco, CA
The Dangerous Lorraines present the dream-like Café Lorraine, in which abstract imagery opens doors to new perceptions of human interactions in a collage of movement, text and video vignettes combined to expose the inner landscapes of need, control and the desire to be needed. Café Lorraine combines video and projections by filmmaker Brandon Van Meter, text by fiction writer Doug Rice and original music by composer Christian Cherry. The multi-ethnic cast demonstrates strength and vulnerability through quick glimpses of diverse emotional states- raw sensuality, both visceral and joyfully kinetic, collide through tangible partnering and spontaneous physicality. Cafe Lorraine is constructed in the spirit and memory of the late German tanztheater choreographer Pina Bausch whose revolutionary choreographic works have greatly influenced both choreographers.
Part of the 2010 San Francisco Fringe Festival.
