Learn & sing the ecstatic chants of the legendary
12th-century German abbess, AND learn & sing
the music that she herself knew -- the music that
was the sonic foundation of her own compositions.

Participants will learn how to approach Hildegard's unique style in order to create a shapely, word-directed musical line. We'll reconstruct a musical "day" at Hildegard's abbey, learning pieces from Susan Hellauer's own transcriptions, as well as from original notation and "by heart."

Note: Open to anyone who loves plainchant, unison/choral singing, Hildegard of Bingen, or medieval music. No choral experience necessary, just the ability to carry a tune. Music sight reading skill helpful but not necessary.
