Coco: An exploration of Coconut with Chef Maximo Tejada and Cookbook Author Denisse Oller
Did you know that the scientific name for coconut is Cocos Nucifera? And that early Spanish explorers called it coco, as it means "monkey face"? Join us for an exploration of this captivating fruit, a delicious staple in the diet of many islanders as a nutritious source of fiber, vitamin and minerals.
Join Chef Maximo Tejada, the culinary genius behind Rayuela & Macondo with his Estilo Libre Latino (Freestyle Latino), and Food Author and TV Host Denisse Oller, as they show you how to use and enjoy this multifaceted fruit-- from a delicious coconut soup, to an ingenious ceviche and a decadent paella roja. All paired with the cocktail creations of Master Mixologist Amaury Robayo using coconut and rums as his base ingredients.
4% of all event ticket sales will benefit Grow NYCâs (formerly the Council of the Environment of New York City) New Farmers Development Project that helps immigrant farmers New York's Hudson Valley & Catskill Regions, New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania.
Guests must be 21 years or older.
