Maureen McVerry in VERRY McVERRY!
Acclaimed singer and performer Maureen McVerry created VERRY McVERRY in 1993 and brings this new evolved version to the Eureka Theatre in SF for the first time. As a cabaret singer in San Francisco she has performed at the New Conservatory Theatre, Herbst Theatre, the Plush Room, the Venetian Room and the Alcazar. VERRY McVERRY has also been performed at 88's in NYC and the Gardenia Room in LA, and at other venues nationally.

VERRY McVERRY follows Maureen's starring role as Winnie Spofford in the 42nd Street Moon production of Jerome Kern & Oscar Hammerstein's "Very Warm for May" (May 8 - 23, 2010).  As a stage actress Ms. McVerry celebrates over 25 years in the theatre. At ACT she played Eliza Doolittle in "Pygmalion," Kitty Packard in "Dinner at Eight," the Gypsy in "Scapin," Carrie in "The House of Mirth," and Sister Gabriella in the infamous "The Pope and the Witch." At ACT she also played Mrs. Schlemiel in "Schlemiel the First" and went on with the show to the ART in Cambridge, MA and the Geffen Playhouse in LA. McVerry was featured as Kay in the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival production of "Oh Kay!" and in two long-running San Francisco shows, "Noises Off" and "The Curse of the Werewolf." At Marin Theatre Company she has appeared in "Side by Side by Sondheim," "You're Gonna Love Tomorrow," "Born Yesterday," "Me and My Girl," and "Room Service." Maureen has also appeared in four different productions of "Noises Off" and gladly would do that show weekly to stay in shape. She is the winner of six Bay Area Theatre Critics' Circle Awards and two Drama-Logue Awards. McVerry's film credits include Nine Months, The Dead Pool, True Believer, Big Business, The Ox and the Eye, and on TV in Full House.

On the Peninsula, Maureen is the Pied Piper of youth theatre at two different schools where she directs musical theatre. For this work she has been told she will be given entry into heaven with no questions asked. She has been married to Rick Alber, who is known as "Dr. Web" on KGO Radio, for approximately 4000 years and has two children, Jack and Flannery.

Maureen was recently nominated for a 2009 Bay Area Theatre Critic's Circle (BATCC) Award for her star turn in "Wildcat" at 42nd Street Moon.
