The Italian Sojourn
We are familiar with the advertising slogan "What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas," and we can all relate to the underlying truth that in a pleasure-seeking atmosphere like Las Vegas many people shed their veneer. This is true in literature as in life, and long before Vegas the European continent was the place that the Brits and Americans escaped their puritanical and Victorian society and let their hair down. Italy with it's more temperate climate, exotic people and cultural lust for life was the playground abroad with more appealing customs and freedoms than at home.
Join Literary Affairs and Professor Charles Lynn Batten for this three-part series at the Hotel Bel Air. Each of the works in this series examines the outcome of trying to reinvent oneself or alter life experiences by changing ones environment. All of these discussions begin at 10:30am and include a delicious continental breakfast. Space is limited - get your tickets today!
