Hometown Superhero comic book art show VIP night
NOTE: SAT 6/19--TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR TONIGHT--$25.
The Milwaukie Arts Committee -also known as artMOB- presents a comic book art show in collaboration with Dark Horse Studios, Milwaukie Arts Academy, and the City of Milwaukie. Mike Richardson, CEO of Dark Horse, has agreed to loan us his personal collection of rare and invaluable comic book art for display. These original boards are from some of the most well known comic book artists in the world-spanning from the 1950s to the present. The Milwaukie Arts Academy will host the show at the newly open JC Lillie Performing Arts Center on the Milwaukie High School Campus. This beautiful venue includes a gallery space and black box theater. Mike Richardson has offered his time, along with Dark Horse staff, to speak at the event; provide assistance with marketing and promoting the event; jury student submissions; and provide prizes and other materials for the event. ArtMOB will be holding a "design a comic book cover" contest for students and display the student work at the event. We intent to give a portion of the monies collected from ticket sales back to the Milwaukie Arts Academy.
