YOLDOSH - "TRAVELER"
Gulistan Dance Theater's YOLDOSH ("Traveler") offers two very different, yet equally engaging dance journeys along the ancient Silk Road. In "Postcards From Uzbekistan" (Act I), Gulistan shares the magic of tradition with its offering of unusual women's dances of Uzbekistan and beyond. Displayed in colorful, festive costumes, Gulistan's refined, nuanced and rhythmic dances evoke the courts and caravansarais of the fabled oasis cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, Tashkent, Khorezm and Kashgar. In the second act, the power of imagination is unleashed in Carolyn Krueger's full-length, original work, "Crossings." Inspired by the arts and cultures of the Silk Road, "Crossings" navigates imaginary landscapes as mythical beings journey through the seasons and across dimensions in a collage of alchemy and ornament.
