Benny Sharoni Quartet
Benny Sharoni is an Israeli-born tenor saxophonist, bandleader, composer and arranger who is a mainstay on the U.S. and European jazz scenes. After emigrating from Israel to the U.S. to study at Berklee College of Music, Sharoni studied with jazz masters Charlie Banacos, Jerry Bergonzi and George Garzone before exploding onto the scene with his own unique brand of music. Fusing together classic bop influences of Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon and Steve Grossman, Sharoni flavors his music with Latin rhythms and an energetic drive that delights audiences worldwide. The repertoire includes unique arrangements of standards from the American Songbook, as well as original compositions.
Benny's recent release, "Eternal Elixir", has captured the hearts and ears of jazz listeners, reviewers and promoters, generating tremendous acclaim for this recording. Here's what the critics are saying:
"a vibrant hybrid of the hip and the holy" - Owen McNally, Hartford Courant "When Benny Sharoni plays, it's a toast to life" - Bill Beuttler, Boston Globe "overflows with the joy of living" - Jazziz Magazine "...a tenor saxophonist with a big tone and a hard-driving style" - Scott Yanow's LA Jazz Scene "Sharoni is a precise and exciting playeran intoxicating cocktail of brains and brawn" - Jordan Richardson, All About Jazz "a voice that is quite his own, demanding to be heard on common ground with other practicing giants" - Raul D'Gama Rose, All About Jazz
