The Reverend Drew Bunting & The Agnostic Band
(Washington, DC) The hardest-rocking priest in all Christendom stomps back through Washington, DC with his band on Friday, May 7th at 7:30 pm at St. Columba's Episcopal Church, 4201 Albemarle St., N.W., Washington, DC 20016.
A former Associate Rector at St. Columba's, Bunting is now Priest-in-Charge of the Church of the Resurrection in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, and is on the road promoting his newest CD, "The New South," which includes twelve tracks of sin, apocalypse, joy and redemption. He's backed by a band of hardcore agnostics who tear country, rock and old-time string music apart at the seams. Bunting bills himself (tongue-in-cheek) as an insensitive singer/songwriter on a quest to breed old-time string music and rock & roll into an entirely new animal - not unlike a mule, but capable of reproduction! But listen carefully to his lyrics, as they cut to the bone and preach lots of humor and charming wit.
Joining the Reverend on the stage will be: Fiddle/banjo player Brian Francis Slattery (who also happens to be well-known writer in certain sci-fi circles)
Bassist Joe "joebass" DeJarnette (a former member of the Wiyos, opening act for Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson)
Drummer Charlie Shaw (not only a great drummer, he also makes his own baking powder!)
