Winter Greens Workshop Series: Commercial Greens for Market
This workshop will focus on the techniques and infrastructure that Red Fire Farm has used to scale up their production of winter greens so they can grow plenty of greens for their CSA members and markets.; These will include greenhouses, high tunnels, low tunnels, seeding and harvesting methods, packing greens for sale, record keeping, and economics. Marketing discussion will cover sales to farmers markets, CSAs &; wholesale.The mission of Red Fire Farm is to be a year-round local source for high quality food and ornamental crops grown at their farm using organic principles that result in safe food and a healthy environment. Through innovative marketing strategies, they provide an exciting shopping experience and educate the community about the benefits of eating locally grown foods during all four seasons. They seek to achieve these goals for the community while providing fulfilling and sustainable careers for farmers.This is one in a series of workshops on winter greens production. About the presenter:
Presenter: Ryan Voiland has now been farming in Granby for 14 years, and it has been 22 years since he took over his parent's garden and became an organic farmer! Ryan is delighted that his passion for growing organic food continues to make a positive impact on the local food supply.
