What Every Contractor Should Know About Prevailing Wages
New rules and regulations governing prevailing wages and apprentice requirements are issued each year. Fines start at $100 per day for contractors who fail to properly make their training contributions and additional fines of $50 per day per worker if you miss a prevailing wage increase.
•Do you know the latest information on prevailing wage compliance? •Does your company do soils testing, survey work or weld testing? •Do you perform over $1,000 of work per job for any State or local agency (via purchase order, contract, or bid)? •Are you aware of new mandated apprenticeship requirements (even if you do not employ apprentices)?
PREVAILING WAGE & APPRENTICESHIP REQUIREMENTS APPLY TO YOU!
Deborah Wilder, president of Contractor Compliance and Monitoring Inc., has been working in the prevailing wage field for over 27 years. She has helped contractors understand prevailing wage requirements, performed prevailing wage audits for awarding agencies and conducted both prosecution and defense of dozens of Administrative hearings before the Department of Industrial Relations.
Hands on Prevailing wage session includes review of both Davis Bacon and California prevailing wage requirements, as well as the intricacies of special holidays, travel and subsistence pay, new apprenticeship regulations, new enforcement of Electrician certification and an update on American Recovery Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus reporting requirements.
Special afternoon workshop portion includes creating accurate certified payrolls and spotting errors on certified payrolls submitted by others.
