Recital with Rosalie Macmillan and Quack Moore
PLEASE NOTE that the location of the event has been CHANGED, from a private residence in the Kona area, to a residence at Kohala Ranch in the Waimea area.
The Kamuela Philharmonic is delighted to present an intimate afternoon of music at a private residence in the Waimea area, featuring world-renown violinist Rosalie Macmillan, and accompanied by Quack Moore.
Rosalie Macmillan will be the featured soloist at our concert on the 25th at the Hilton Waikoloa Grand Ballroom, where she will be playing Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major.
This prelude is an exciting opportunity to hear two virtuoso musicians playing in a much more intimate setting, while raising money for the Kamuela Philharmonic.
Since making her orchestral debut at the age of 13, Rosalie Macmillan has played all over the globe, including Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, the UK, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, South Africa, Canada, and all across the United States.
As featured soloist with the BYU Chamber Orchestra she toured Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Russia, giving performances in such venues as the Cairo Opera House and the Bolshoi Hall of the Moscow Conservatory.
Quack Moore graduated from Julliard with a Masters degree in piano performance, and then quickly made history by becoming the first female band member of the original Saturday Night Live Band, and later becoming SNL's music director for ten years. She also worked as a composer for Sesame Street, winning an Emmy for her work in 1990.
Kohala Ranch is located in the Waimea area, off of Highway 270 towards Kawaihae. Coming from Kona, go up 19 past the resorts and take a left at the T intersection onto 270, then right past the fork to continue onto 270 (the left fork goes to Kawaihae harbor). Eventually you will hit Kohala Ranch Rd. and a manned gate.
Coming from Waimea, go down 19 to the bottom of the hill and continue right onto 270 instead of left towards Kona and the resorts. Afterwards, follow the instructions as above.
