Celebration of Song
Mission Hills United Church of Christ San Diego, CA
SDWC's Spring concert celebrates songs from different times and places that evoke longing, love and pride. Song selections include "Arise! (Mother's Day 1870)" written by Julia Ward Howe for the first mother's day, "Nella Fantasia" whose beautiful Italian lyrics describes a world of justice and peace and "Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears, the new classic that tells the story of Annie Moore's first experience as an Irish immigrant coming to Ellis Island in 1892. The program includes a variety of songs of struggle, triumph, beauty, and self-reflection, all celebrating the human experience.
