Hungarian Pianist Jeno Jando To Perform at Piedmont Piano Company in Oakland
World-renowned Hungarian pianist Jeno Jando will make his much-anticipated return to the Bay Area to present a recital at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the newly-renovated Piedmont Piano Company in Oakland, located at 1728 San Pablo Avenue. .
The program will include: Chopin, Shumann,Beethoven and Liszt. The recital is presented by the Corvinus Hungarian Cultural Group and The Renaissance School.
Jeno Jando was born in 1952 in Pcs, South Hungary, where he began his piano studies at the age of seven. His most influential teacher was Pl Kadossa at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest.
Jeno Jands recordings include works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Bartok, Brahms, Dohnanyi, Gershwin, Grieg, Kodaly, Liszt, Schubert, Schumann, Rachmaninov, and Tsajkovskij. His recording of Bartoks Violin Sonatas received a Grammy nomination for Best Chamber Music Recording of 1995. In 1995 he also received a platinum disc to mark worldwide sales in excess of 1.5 million for his recordings on the Naxos label. Within the last four years, Mr. Jand has received the Bartok-Pasztory Award, the Kossuth Award, and the International Liszt Society Award.
