Starting off the month of April with a bang, The Lizard Lounge is proud to present a band fast on the rise, The DAvid Wax Museum. Brandishing a wide array of acoustic instruments and Mexican based percussion (re: jawbone) the band infuses Mexican son into its literary, countrified folk rock. They call their music Mexo-American Dance Rock. We call it great music played by great players. Along for the ride tonight is Dark Dark Dark â hailing from New Orleans, New York and Minneapolis. This chamber-folk sextet have yielded a lush and intoxicating follow-up to their 2008 full-length debut, The Snow Magic. And Lissy Rosemont, who fronts the Junior League Band: The Junior League Band is an old-time inspired rock band fronted by the Georgia grown banjo, vocalist, Lissy Rosemont. Based out of Washington, DC, this nationally touring band has been compared to "Alison Krauss and the Band" by the Washington Post, and touts Levon Helm's own horn players on their catchy single "South Carolina Blues." Rosemont has been referred to as one of the "most promising up and coming vocalists on the Americana scene" (Bristol Rythm and Roots Festival) as well as recorded in the studio her old-time banjo with acts such as Missy Elliott and the Pussy Cat Dolls.
"If one of Bostonâs hottest new bands, The David Wax Museum, gets any hotter, it just might melt." -- The Boston Globe
"One of the newer Mexico-centric bands on the scene is a much buzzed-about Boston group called The David Wax Museum. Their record Carpenter Bird finds the unlikely middle ground between roots-rock Americana and a broad style of Mexican rural folk music called son mexicano. -- NPR Listen to an interview with The David Wax Museum on NPR
The Boston Globe chose Carpenter Bird for its top 10 list of local music in 2009.
