Event
Napa Local Food Forum
Imagine a Napa Valley where school children eat locally grown foods as part of their school lunch; where all of us could have access to fresh, locally grown meat, produce, and dairy products; where local and regional foods could so easily fill our markets and our schools. An impressive group of Napa County local food advocates is working toward making this vision a reality. The Napa County Agricultural Commissioners Office and representatives from Napa Countys food community invite you to join us for the Napa Local Food Forum on April 28, at the Napa Valley Expo. Our goal is to gather individuals, organizations, and institutions for in-depth discussions of the opportunities and challenges involved in the development of a strong local food system. The sponsors want to gain support and build enthusiasm for this idea, and to plan the next steps in our shared common vision of a sustainable local food system. The keynote speaker is Paul Muller, co-owner of Full Belly Farm. Full Belly Farm is a 200-acre certified organic farm in Capay Valley producing an amazing diversity of vegetables, herbs, nuts, flowers, and fruits year-round, along with chickens, sheep, and cattle. The Farms products already appear in restaurants, farmers markets, and community supported members receive seasonal produce box delivery in their neighborhoods. Who should attend? Growers, representatives and parents groups for our local schools, restaurants, markets, health providers, government representatives, and anyone with an interest and passion for sustainability will benefit and contribute to this forum. Lunch will be prepared by local chefs and a wine reception hosted by the Napa Valley Vintners.
