Ear Heart Music: Threeds Salutes American Music 1930âs-present

THREEDS trio will take a journey through American music from Gerwshin to the present on two oboes and an English horn. Stops along the way include opera and Broadway hits from the1930s, classic rock from the â60s and â70s, early â80s pop, new free jazz compositions from the â90s and experimental music from this decade (including a piece written for Threeds this year!). THREEDS is a New York City based oboe trio that includes Kathy Halvorson, Katie Scheele and Mark Snyder. The three musicians (sometimes two oboes and an English horn) have performed in some of New Yorkâs most prestigious chamber music venues including Trinity Church @ Wall Streetâs âConcerts at Oneâ series; âMusic for Summer Eveningsâ at the Grace Chapel in Silver Bay (Lake George), NY; and at the Good Shepherd Church in Brooklyn, NY. The trio enjoys exploring a wide variety of music from all musical time periods and from all corners of the world. The members of THREEDS have also arranged music to accompany several local singer-songwriters (including Amber Rubarth, Jamie Leonhart and Adam Levy) and have been featured at several downtown NYC music venues including Joeâs Pub, Highline Ballroom, the Living Room, the Rockwood Music Hall and Peteâs Candy Store.
