Path of Beauty: Singing the Grand Canyon

Sound Circle, the 16-voice Boulder-based womens a cappella ensemble, will collaborate with photographer Christopher Brown to offer Path of Beauty: Singing the Grand Canyon. Additional collaborators include jazz vocalist Rene Marie, Southwestern singer/songwriter Becky Reardon, harpist Christine Tulis with percussionist Kem Stralka, and Tree Andrew playing Native American flute. The goal of this performance, which will be a continuous flow of song, soundscape, and visual imagery, is to offer the audience a contemplative journey through the Grand Canyon. Music by composers including Malcolm Dalglish, Bobby McFerrin, Bill Douglas, Kimmerjae Makarus, and Mary Ellen Childs, Rene Marie, Becky Reardon, Joan Szymko, poetry by Joy Harjo, and more, will intertwine with improvisational material and soundscape.
