Level 3: Playing with Patterns and Character
Apply what you've learned in Level 1 and 2 to begin mastering long-form improv with the classic Armando and Montage shows, as pioneered by Chicago's iO Theater. This class is heavy on exercises in the fundamental structural components of long-form. Students will learn to mine for audience suggestions to create show ideas, find the beats of when and how to edit, speak monologues, heighten and reincorporate material as callbacks. You'll emerge from Level 3 with the tools and skills necessary to sustain longer pieces containing recurring themes, rich characters, and plenty of surprise and delight.
Prerequisite: Must have completed a Level 1 and Level 2 class or gain permission of an instructor.
Section 1 meets from 2 pm - 4 pm Saturdays (January 17 - March 14) and will be instructed by Kellen Hodgeson
Class enrollment is limited to 12 students.
