A Time to Go Walking
"A Time to Go Walking" is a heartwarming, award winning, Irish play about life, love and death. In this play we are introduced to Dicky, a never ending dreamer and get rich quick schemer and his long suffering wife Kate. This play is not to be missed - you will laugh until you cry! Tissues provided!
About the Play and Playwright: Peter McGarry of Eyewitness Theater/England wrote A Time to Go Walking to premier at the 2001 Orlando Fringe Festival. It was a huge success in Orlando and across the Canadian Fringe circuit that year. It has also been produced in England, Ireland and Australia. Based on the writings of beloved Irish writer John B Keane, A Time to Go Walking is a love story about death. Beautifully written, the audience laughs as much as it cries. Set in rural Western Ireland, dreamer Dicky Mick Dicky believes his own demise is near and plans to walk out to meet it while his suffering wife Kate knows not what to do about her own impending death. It is easy to befriend these characters and feel for them and their enduring devotion.
Denver's Dangerous Theatre hit the jackpot in casting Timothy Englert and Ellen Ranson in this play when it was first presented to Denver Audiences in September of 2007. They love the play so much they asked if we could bring it back this April. These two fine actors will delight audiences as Kate and Dicky. The two have shared stage time many times before and bring Peter McGarry's characters to life in a way no other actors could. Most recently Ellen and Tim have appeared in D.L. Colburn's "The Gin Game" and Richard Alfieri's "Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks".
We will have a special matinee performance on Sunday 3/28. Cabaret seating is limited and ticket price includes pre-show celtic music performance by Wild Elf and traditional Irish munchies like shepherds pie and sticky toffee pudding!
