BYU Young Ambassadors
The Young Ambassadors are a group of singers, dancers, and musicians who have gained a reputation for entertaining excellence through energetic and heart-warming musical theater entertainment.The Young Ambassadors perform Heartsongs: Melodies of Love, a stage production celebrating favorites from some of America's best-loved musical scores like Singing in the Rain, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and the Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella. The show also highlights hits from artists like The Beatles and Michael Bublé. The Young Ambassadors combine professional sound and staging with captivating choreography into a 90-minute presentation. Heartsongs: Melodies of Love includes a 10-piece band and a performing cast of 20 singers/dancers. The group is also supported by a crew of student technicians who control lighting, sound, and give backstage support. The world-traveled Young Ambassadors perform extensively both nationally and internationally. In the past decade, the group has toured over thirteen states and fourteen countries, including Australia, China, Korea, Brazil and Argentina. Their performances cross cultural bounds and are always enthusiastically received. Randall Boothe has served as the group's director since 1977. Previously, Boothe was a director with Walt Disney Productions, Hawaii's Polynesian Cultural Center, Showcase Hawaii, and the Polynesian Dance Ensemble. The Young Ambassadors are produced by the School of Music, in cooperation with the Department of Dance, at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. BYU is one of the nation's largest private universities with an enrollment of more than 30,000 full-time students from throughout the United States as well as 120 foreign countries.
