The trilogy begins with Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance when Ryu, a young, unemployed deaf-mute, sells his kidney on the black market in order to pay for his older sister's life-saving transplant. When he realizes he's been ripped off, Ryu teams up with his quirky revolutionary girlfriend to kidnap the daughter of his wealthy and sinister former boss. Relentlessly paced and consistently gripping, the story leads to an intense and cathartic conclusion.
