MOTHER TONGUE: POETIC PRELUDE TO A TRIBUNAL, FOR BLACK WOMEN, REFUGEES OF A WORLD ON FIRE
A POETIC PRELUDE TO A TRIBUNAL, BLACK WOMEN ARE REMOVING THE GAGS FROM OUR MOUTHS AND CALLING FOR JUSTICE.

www.mothertonguemonologues.org

We will speak for ourselves, lift the silence shrouding narratives about centuries of police brutality, rape and genocide against women and girls, alongside our brothers and transgender sisters, and highlight the complexity of our experiences as Black women, as central to that of any Black collective.

Beautiful imagery, evocative music, and contemporary poets will take the audience through powerful moments of call and response, conjuring up the spirits of radical women in a salute to "This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color", Cherrie Moraga and Gloria Anzaldua, Audre Lorde, hattie gossett, Toni Cade Bambara, Rosario Morales, Naomi Littlebear, and many more.
