San Francisco International Arts Festival
The seventh annual San Francisco International Arts Festival (SFIAF) kicks off on May 19 and runs through May 30 with more than 40 performances and two major visual arts exhibits being presented by 32 San Francisco organizations at multiple venues throughout the City. With its annual theme, "The Truth in Knowing/Now: Threads in Time, Place, Culture," SFIAF 2010 will include numerous World Premieres, US Debuts & International Collaborations featuring leading artists from the Bay Area performing and exhibiting with and alongside their international peers from around the world. This year's festival includes dance, music, theatre and visual arts and events will take place at four venues at the Fort Mason Center (the Cowell & Southside Theatres and the Herbst and Festival Pavilions) as well as at Monaghans Bar, Theater Artaud, the Garage, the Herbst Theatre and Union Square.

"The Unheard of World" will be the first American work-in-progress performances of a play for all ages by celebrated French playwright Fabrice Melquiot. A strange city among the roots of trees is home to the spirit of every person who has ever lived. Eighty million souls, scrambling for space!  It is story of the meeting between a sad little girl half-swallowed by a bear, and a little boy who refused to ever be born. It is a uniquely magical place in which Melquiot delves into themes of death, longing, loss and love. Full of great poetic imagery, and a fantastical humor that will intrigue audience members of all ages, this is foolsFURYs second premiere of Melquiots work, following their acclaimed production of The Devil on All Sides (Le Diable en Partage) which toured San Francisco and New York in 2007.
