Inventive, restless, and passionately artistic. Influenced by the ex-pat writers of the early 20th century, obscure political songs of the '60s, 1980s alt-pop. Vermont singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell has gifted the music world with a folk opera (Hadestown, 2010), and several themed albums, including 2012's Young Man in America and 2013's Child Ballads, which won a BBC Folk Award for Best Traditional Song.

This summer and fall Anais hits the road for a solo tour with a new album, XOA, produced by Gary Paczosa (producer of Child Ballads) that includes some new songs, some from Hadestown that were originally sung by other cast members, and some from her back catalog. Tour highlights include Newport Folk Festival, the UK and Holland, and--of course--Caffe Lena!
