QSONG (Queer Songwriters of a New Generation) Weekly Sessions
Please join us for the weekly sessions of QSONG, the 16-week song-writing workshop for queer, trans* and allied youth (14-25). QSONG (Queer Songwriters of a New Generation) gives youth ages 14-25 of all levels of experience to develop their songwriting chops. Led by queer singersongwriters Sarah Wheeler and Melissa Endean, QSONG includes recording and broadcast opportunities, guest appearances by some of Canada's top queer artists, plus a live performance at QAF 2014!
Starting May 16, QSONG flies free with weekly Friday workshops until August 8, followed by the performance at QAF in August. Please join us each Friday from 5-7pm!
The weekly workshops will deal with topics including: - crafting effective melodies and hooks - harmonic arrangements - collaboration with other musicians - instrumental arranging - intro to classical song composition - licensing your music, by a SOCAN representative - introduction to the music recording and engineering process, by NIMBUS studio representative
QSONG will also offer: - Performance at the Queer Arts Festival Closing Party - Live recording and CD of your performance by NIMBUS - Radio broadcast opportunity
Please note, all sessions will be held in Room A of the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre, except for the session on June 27th (Location TBA).
