Join us for four rare filmed performances by Miles Davis spanning decades, from a 1959 NYC television recording to the 1991 Parisian gig (Miles died three months after filming). Part of Music Craft, our regular series featuring rare concert footage from music legends.

April, 1959 - CBS Studio 61, NYC

...with Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb, broadcast during the Kind of Blue period.

June, 1973 - Koseinenkin Hall, Tokyo, Japan

...quote by Miles Davis, "An amplified trumpet doesn't sound good when you play real fast. So I learned to play two-bar phrases, and that's where I was going with my new music. It was exciting because I was learning as I was doing it."

July, 1985 - Umbria Jazz Festival, Perugia, Italy

...with Davis, John Scofield, Bob Berg, Robert Irving III, Darryl Jones, Vince Wilburn Jr., and Steve Thornton.

July, 1991 - Paris, France

...Miles died three months after this gig.
