ONCE BABYLON - A SONGFIRE Theatre Apprenticeship Production
In a world where natural disasters strike with terrifying ferocity, tyrannical regimes carry out genocidal slaughter, and economies teeter on the verge of collapse, ancient apocalyptic prophecy feels tangible and near.

When catastrophe lifts the veil and reveals human spirit - what will be found? Will ruin give rise to survivors or victims? Will tragedy breed heroes or villains? And how will we know the difference?

When everything humans have experienced in life is lost, how do we define humanity?

In a remarkable, rich fusion of music and theatre, these questions are addressed through four survivors:  Activist, leader, player, and innocent. As they scramble through this "new world," they must learn to transform tragedy into triumph.

Experience the world's first Art Song Theatre Apprenticeship - introduced at VISI in 2011 - as Art Song moves from recital hall to theatrical stage. SONGFIRE Theatre breaks new ground in the presentation of Art Song, bringing the highest creative standards to a new canon of multi-media works.

"Sitting in the audience, I was treated to passionate artists exploring the fascinating new terrain of song theatre. I could feel those around me responding with great excitement to the skill and commitment of the young artists." -SONGFIRE Audience
