Forecasting weather, fact or fiction? Make your own weather station. Visit the Albuquerque NOAA weather center. Explore the where, why, and how of extreme weather, tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis, and more. Discover New Mexico's past climates by examining the fossil record. Visit the different life zones of the Albuquerque area and compare the Rio Grande valley to the Sandia Crest. Your explorations will include hands-on science activities, crafts, stories, and visits to the Museum's exhibits. Planetarium show is included. Classes are limited to 13 children and are taught by two adult instructors. (For children entering 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade in 2013-2014 school year).
Scholarships are available for children who qualify and are awarded based on need. Camps may be available for purchase at the Museum when online sales have ended. Please call 505 841-2861 or email Programs.nmmnhs@state.nm.us to inquire into camp availability.
YOU NEED TO KNOW All campers must be picked-up by 3:30 PM. Campers still at the Winter Science Program after 3:45 PM will automatically be enrolled in our aftercare program. Payment for aftercare must be made by cash or check at time of camper pick-up. -Our camp instructors are teachers or scientists. They have all completed first aid and CPR. All instructors submit to a background check before teaching camp. -Please note that Museum staff cannot take responsibility for dispensing prescription or over-the-counter medications. -Campers are required to provide their own lunch, snack, and drink. Campers must wear appropriate clothing and shoes for active learning.
The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science reserves the right to cancel any event that does not reach a minimum of 6 participants.
