Join us for the 5th annual Best Chef Competition. Five top chefs from the Seattle area will compete for $10,000 in prize money and the a book deal. The competition will take place October 31st from 5pm-9pm and will include light passed appetizers and a cash bar. Categories: A-D, SA-SD, E1-2, F1-2, K1-9, SK1-9, P1-2, SP1-2, W, SW SW - Vegetable Cut Challenge: Competitors will be given a time period of 60 minutes to produce the following: 2oz each of 5 classical cuts using 80 ct. Russet potatoes; classical cuts will be determined by lead judge day of competition 2 fluted mushrooms 1 vine-ripe tomato; peel and small dice, pulp to be seeded and concassed cup finely chopped parsley 4oz rondelle carrot 10 minute set-up window and a 10 minute clean-up window Competitors will supply all product and necessary equipment W&SW - Gingerbread Showpiece: Competitors will display Gingerbread showpiece of their choice. There will be no size limitations. Except for the base entries must be constructed and composed completely of edible materials. The main structure should be constructed of at least 75% gingerbread. Use of gum paste, fondant, pastillage, chocolate, modeling chocolate, royal icing, Isomalt, cast sugar, gelatin and pressed sugar is encouraged.
