Kaddish for a Friend with The Bris, a short - Chandler
KADDISH FOR A FRIEND (Germany) Director: Leo Khasin Drama - 93 minutes, German w/English Subtitles
Screenings: Harkins Chandler Crossroads 12 Wed. Feb. 13th, 7PM
Think of your very truest friendships. They grow from early years, from strong mutual interests, even from the trinity of marriage: spouse, lover, and friend. But a friendship of two persons at opposite ends of the life cycle: Arab teenager Ali, who knows you only by what he is taught by family and peers, and the old Russian Jew Alexander who only knows you by bitter memories and as the anti-Semitic target he has become for Ali and his friends. How could any friendship overcome such harsh stereotyping and enmity? With two main characters, wonderfully drawn and who will draw you to them, you will want to see if just possibly there could be the makings of a friendship. Perhaps it might even help a little to answer that ancient biblical query: "Friends, wherefore art thou come?"
