Salina, an Aeolian island north of Sicily, is known as a summer seaside location. One Years Remainder discloses what happens during the other seasons. The sea and the sky are predominant characters; sometimes blue and peaceful, other times grey and threatening. As natures colors change, also the lives of the one thousand Salina inhabitants slowly carry on: solitude and daily worries of farmers and fishermen, who communicate in dialect. Eventually, the first sea-bath of a newborn marks the return of tourism.
