Basia Irland, Artist Basia Irlands artwork focuses on international water issues, especially rivers, waterborne diseases, and water scarcity. Join us for this unusual confluence of art and science and enjoy a lively discussion about water within our local community, globally, and within our own bodies.
Basia Irland is a Fulbright Scholar, author, poet, sculptor, installation artist, and activist who creates international water projects. She is Professor Emerita, Department of Art and Art History, UNM, where she established the Arts and Ecology Program. She often works with scholars from diverse disciplines building rainwater harvesting systems or lming and producing water documentaries. Irland writes a blog for National Geographic about international rivers. She was the only artist invited to participate in the Foundation for the Futures International World Water Crisis Forum.
