Share this event:

Joan Tafoya, Senior Principal Engineer, Intel

We all know what the Internet is and how useful it is to our everyday lives.  The next big thing is the Internet of Things or IoT for short.   This is about connecting any device with any other device to bring intelligence to the way we experience the world.   It could be as simple as sensors in your garden to measure the moisture in the soil and trigger the watering system to more complex applications like self-driving cars or a smart power grid.   Learn more about the Internet of Things at this talk and how you might get started in building your own device.

Joan Tafoya was born in Albuquerque and is a Senior Principal Engineer in Intels Internet of Things business unit. There she leads a cross-Intel team to define the usages and requirements for Intel developed IoT products that make factories, buildings, retail, transportation and homes more efficient and intelligent.   As a 25-year veteran of Intel, she has lived in Asia for nearly 8 years, completing assignments for Intel in China, Vietnam and Malaysia.  She has 2 teenage children.

The lecture will be followed by special tours of the Museums STARTUP exhibit. Please preregister at www.NMnaturalhistory.org Seats are limited. Children age 8 and up only.  Cost includes STARTUP tour.
