Staycee Pearl dance project - Interim 2

"Interim 2:study...discuss" explores the notion of post-blackness - what it means to be black and create and act free of racial identifiers. This work-in-progress features phrases stacked and assembles like a 3D puzzle. The repetition of beats and gestures feels like the frustration of dealing with racial push and pull.

Additionally, PearlArts: movement and sound will show "Interim 2: hand-held," exploring mobile device obsessions, isolation, and communication.

CMU Professor Richard Purcell leads a conversation on Post-Blackness, Post-Race, and Personal Identity immediately after the showing.



Interim 2 is presented as part of East Liberty LIVE! A catalyst for the creation and presentation of diverse, innovative art in the community, East Liberty LIVE! fills a void in summer arts programming and contributes to East Liberty's continued revitalization.
