With new ballads and gorgeously rendered tunes from the Appalachia of yesteryear, tonight's musicians have found the pulse of genuine folk music.

Boston singer-songwriter Mark Erelli has tackled everything from western swing and protest songs to lullabies and murder ballads, all in a richly expressive voice that Twangville.com heralds as "the male counterpart to Neko Case." Erelli has grown from church basement coffeehouse gigs to the main stage of the Newport Folk Festival. He excels as a sideman guitarist (backing up Lori McKenna at the Grand Ole Opry, or Josh Ritter at London's Royal Albert Hall), a bluegrass band leader (Barnstar!), and as a solo songwriter. He takes on worthy themes and connects across political and social fences.  "darkly magnificent...Mark Erelli (has) something to say and a unique, poetic, compelling way of saying it." (Vintage Guitar)  "Soul-stirring" (Huffington Post)

Hailing from Asheville, NC, Dana and Susan Robinson are bona fide folk musicians with truly superb musical chops. Some of their songs are new; some are traditional pieces from Appalachia--all are built on the bedrock of American traditional songs. Dana and Susan get an old-time groove going with banjo, guitar, fiddle, and beautiful harmony singing. They can make the audience howl with laughter or hush with poignant reflection as they explore the mystery and wonder of our shared landscape. "Many songwriters such as Bruce Springsteen, or John Mellencamp have been heralded as modern day Woody Guthries or keepers of the American rural spirit, but that mantle might be better entrusted to musicians like Dana Robinson who embody both the heart and the soul of folk music." (Dirty Linen)
